Todd to award 110 diplomas to graduates
ELKTON, KY -- Todd County Central High School will award 110 diplomas to graduating seniors during its commencement ceremony scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday in the school's gym.
The valedictorian of the Class of 2000, Rachel Hogue, and co-salutatorians, Joanna Tabor and Jessica McLendon, will speak during the ceremony.
Hogue, daughter of Ronald and Judy Hogue, is a member of the National Honor Society, Science Club and the Speech Team. She was chosen for the Life in Extreme Environ-ments NASA Program. She also was a Bellarmine College Junior Fellow, Centre College Fellow and a representative for the Pennyrile Rural Electric Co op Corp. for an event in Washington, D.C.
Hogue plans to attend Kentucky Wesleyan, but has not yet decided on a major. She has been awarded a full, four-year scholarship from the college worth $40,280.
McLendon, daughter of Pamela Wilson and Frank McLendon, was also a member of the NHS, Beta Club and the student council. She played basketball for three years and softball for five. In 1998, she was selected to the 13th Regional Girls' Basketball All-Academic Team. She was selected in 1999 to attend the Governor's Scholars Program.
McLendon plans to attend the University of Louisville, where she plans to study pre-medicine and English or creative writing.
Tabor, daughter of John and Marlene Tabor, is also a member of the NHS, Future Farmers of America, student council, Beta Club, Champion Against Drugs Advisory Council and 4-H. She also was a winner of the Governor's Award for Kentucky Youth Council on Volunteerism and Services.
Tabor plans to attend Murray State University and study pre-veterinarian medicine or animal science. She was been awarded a full scholarship.
