Todd Co. Central graduation set for Thursday
ELKTON, Ky. -- Co valedictorians Jamie Dye and Felicia Davis, who tied for the school's top academic honor, and salutatorian Matthew Higgins will address classmates at Todd County Central High School's graduation ceremony later this week.
The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday in the high school gymnasium, with the Rev. Dave Brown as the guest speaker.
Dye is the daughter of Tom and Nancy Dye. She has earned the Commonwealth Diploma and will receive a $500 scholarship from Elkton Bank and Trust. She is president of the Student Council, secretary of Beta Club and served as vice president of the National Honor Society Club. Dye plans to attend Transylvania University in Lexington on several scholarships and will major in drama and communication.
Davis is the daughter of Linda Harper and Glynn Davis. She is a member of student council, National Honor Society and is president of the Beta Club. She has also received the Commonwealth Diploma and a scholarship in the amount of $500 from Elkton Bank and Trust. Davis will attend Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond on a full scholarship and plans to major in forensic science.
Higgins, the son of Dr. John Higgins and Debbie Leavell, is the Senior Class president, a member of Student Council, Beta Club and National Honor Society. Higgins will also receive the Commonwealth Diploma and a $500 scholarship from Elkton Bank and Trust. He has been admitted as a freshman at Vanderbilt University's School of Engineering in Nashville, Tenn., with several scholarships. He plans to major in biomedical engineering with a pre medical background.
According to school officials, Allison Doggett earned the distinction of 1st honor student. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marlo Doggett and is the Senior Class secretary and a member of National Beta Club, Science Club, Co Ed Y and FCCLA. She will be attending Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green and is undecided on a major.
Todd Central is scheduled to award diplomas to 85 graduates.
