Phoenix Union High School

Honor Roll - 2nd Term

The honor roll at Phoenix Union High School for the term just ending contained more names than ever before in the history of the school, according to Ethel Rosenberry, dean of girls and William Stone, dean of boys, at the school.

Of the 2800 students now attending Phoenix High, 384 were included in the honor roll.

Of the four classes of students the freshman class led, with 113 of the 384 on the honor roll. Of these 113 freshmen, 75 were girls. The seniors ran second with a total of 97 on the roll, 79 of these 97 being girls. The sophomores gave the seniors a close run for second place by placing 94 of the roll, 76 of whom were girls. The junior class finished with 80 honor students, 52 of the 80 bring girls.

The statistics indicate that the girls at Phoenix High are more studious than the boys, for the girls of the four classes placed 282 students of the roll while the boys managed to place only 102 of the number.

One of the greatest honors accorded a student at Phoenix High, second only to being a member of the Parnassus or Scholarship club, is to be placed in the first division of the honor roll for having earned 16 credit points. To earn these 16 points a student must receive a "1" in four of his subjects. Only eight freshmen, four boys and four girls, were accorded this honor. The sophomores led with 11 in this class, 10 of them being girls. The seniors boast of eight, all of them girls, and the juniors had only four, two boys and two girls.

Following are those students who were placed on the Honor Roll at Phoenix High for the second term:
